Title: Measurements Made on the Fabricated Antenna
When the DRA is done fabricated, it then needs to be measured. To measure the DRA, it must be measured using a network analyzer that is suitable for the high frequency. The figures below shows the sequence of measurements that was taken for the fabricated DRA.
Measurements made Using network Analyzer
After the completion of fabricating the antenna, measurements must be taken from the fabricated antenna to see if it meets with the simulated result. At first the measurements was quite difficult as an electronics student i was not taught with the use of a network analyzer. With the help of a PhD student, he taught me on how to preset the network analyzer, connecting the antenna to the network analyzer. The aim is to get the value of the return loss from the antenna and compares it with the simulated values.

Max Gain of the DRA
Once i have obtain the return loss value for the antenna, the next thing i have to do is to measure the maximum gain of the antenna. By this i have to duplicate the antenna to transmit and receive the signal to get the maximum gain.

S11 measured value from the network analyzer
The figure above shows the measured return loss value of the antenna using the network analyzer. The result varies a bit from the simulated results due to the fact that there will be some differences while connecting the connector to the to the antenna due to the solder and the applied silver paste connecting the antenna to the connector.
